As a lifelong resident of Stratford, I take great pride in my hometown. It is my goal to ensure everyone who visits Stratford sees us for the beautiful town we are – offering a rich history; an excellent system of public education; a blossoming town center; beautiful beaches and parks; and lovely waterfront areas.

Stratford offers many different types of housing. Single family, multi-family and condominiums are all offered here.

There are so many wonderful areas of Stratford, including the waterfront area of Lordship. It is a lovely part of town known for its streets popular among cyclists and walkers and, of course, the water views.

The Historic District is based around Academy Hill and is within walking distance of the train station and the town center.

Paradise Green offers the town green with shopping as well as a neighborhood surrounding Longbrook Park.

The Putney section of town is unique with its mixture of old and new including Boothe Memorial Park. This park is home to museums, a baseball field, small pond, rose garden, chapel and playgrounds. Visit the park’s website http://boothememorialpark.org/

Stratford has two 55+ condominium communities, Oronoque Village, which offers a wonderful lifestyle for seniors in our area. With three pools, tennis courts and many group activities there is something for everyone at Oronoque Village. http://www.oronoquevillage.com/outside_home.asp This large 900+ unit complex is located in the Oronoque section of Stratford and also includes single family homes. This section is in close proximity to Route 15 and the I-95 connector – perfect for commuting.

This area also offers our other 55+ community, Maple Oak Reserve, with 42 single family homes and a community building, offering meeting area and workout room. http://www.mapleoakreservestratford.com/common/content.asp

Stratford offers several historically significant organizations, which add to the richness of our town. Sterling House is a wonderful community center housed in a mansion built in 1886 by the Sterling family. The Sterling House was then donated to the town in the 1900s. It has been used as a community center since 1932. Adults can take art classes, cooking classes, learn how to write short stories or even go on day trips. Stratford’s youth can also participate in a variety of classes, join a sports team and attend day camp during the summer. http://sterlinghousecc.org/

The Stratford Historical Society is housed in the Judson House. Built circa 1750, the Judson House is a lovely example of Georgian architecture. Every year, the Stratford Historical Society sponsors The Early American Festival which includes crafters demonstrating 18th century skills, music, colonial children’s games, re-enactments and tours. One of the most convenient features of our town is its close proximity to Connecticut’s major cities, New York and Boston. Stratford offers a train station on the Metro North line. A planned parking garage to be built at the train station will add to the convenience of commuting by train. In addition, we are only 25 miles to Stamford, 64 miles to NYC, and 16 miles to New Haven by car. http://www.mta.info/mnr/
